After much anticipation, Fallout, the series based on the hugely popular video game franchise, is finally streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The show traces the journey of a woman in a post-apocalyptic world, 219 years after a nuclear war. As she leaves behind her vault, she has to navigate through a dangerous and hostile wasteland standing at the place of Los Angeles. Now that all episodes of the show are out, people are eagerly awaiting an update on Fallout Season 2. So here is all we know about if Fallout will return with a season 2 on Prime Video.
Fallout Season 2: Renewal Status and Release Date
While Amazon has not officially announced the renewal of Fallout for a season, as per reports, work on the new season has already begun. The renewal has almost been confirmed unofficially ever since the state of California offered a $25 million tax credit to the producers of the show to shift the production of the show there for season 2.
Notably, the first season of the series was filmed majorly in New York, New Jersey, and Utah. The California Film Commission has now offered the tax credit to lure the makers to shift their production base to the state. As per another report, the filming of season 2 was expected to begin in Toronto, Canada in September 2024.
The news is a highly positive sign for the renewal of the show, hinting that work on the same is already going on. Coming to the release date of Fallout season 2, though not officially confirmed, we can predict it going by the timeline of the previous season. The filming of the debut season began in July 2022, after which it almost took two years for the show to premiere in April 2024. If the same timeline is followed, we can expect Fallout Season 2 to premiere in the first half of 2026.
Fallout Season 2: Cast
Fallout will be incomplete without Ella Purnell playing the protagonist Lucy MacLean, a young Vault Dweller. So the actress is likely to return for season 2. Other actors who are also expected to reprise their roles include Aaron Moten as Maximus, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul / Cooper Howard, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Xelia Mendes-Jones as Dane, Mike Doyle as Mr. Spencer, Moisés Arias as Norm MacLean, Johnny Pemberton as Thaddeus, and Cherien Dabis as Birdie.
Fallout Season 2 Plot
The series is set in the same universe as the video game, but the plot of the show begins even after the events of Fallout 4, the latest game in the franchise. As the makers have already expanded on the storyline, the same is expected to continue in the new season. Lucy will likely face some new opponents and new challenges as she continues her journey through the devastated world, which has become a wasteland. She will also make some allies on the way and take their support in accomplishing her mission.
