Rebel Moon 2 was mainly filmed in Inyo County, a county situated in eastern central California. The desert made Inyo County the perfect place to shoot the otherworldly sequences of the film. The producers of the movie also received tax benefits from the California government for filming in the state. They reportedly got $16.6 million in tax credits after spending around $83 million on the production of the film in California. Apart from Rebel Moon, some other films have also been filmed in Inyo County. These include Bulletproof, From Hell to Texas, Will Penny, Desert Son, The Rawhide Years, The Ballad of Andy Crocker, and Cassidy of Bar 20.
Common Locations with Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire
Both parts of the Rebel Moon film series were filmed simultaneously from April 19th, 2022 to December 2nd, 2022. Hence, Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver shares common filming locations with Part 1: A Child of Fire. The shoot majorly took place in California, in the cities of Los Angeles and Santa Clarita. LA, being the hub of Hollywood productions, was chosen as the filming site for the VFX-heavy film. Santa Clarita, on the other hand, offers a wide range of geographies from mountains to deserts, which helped the crew to shoot diverse scenes in a relatively short distance. Additionally, Cerritos also served as a filming location for the movie.
The cast and crew then traveled to England to shoot some key scenes of the films in the cities of London and Manchester. London’s top-notch production facilities, studios, and experienced film crews make it a convenient and efficient location for filming. At the same time, Manchester’s vibrant cultural scene and dynamic atmosphere are making it a popular destination among filmmakers.

They mainly traveled to three European capitals: Budapest in Hungary, Oslo in Norway, and Stockholm in Sweden. Another European country that features in the films is Scotland.
