The Fall Guy Filming Locations

The Fall Guy was primarily filmed in the bustling city of Sydney, located in New South Wales, Australia. The shoot began in December 2022 and was concluded after a few weeks. The production utilized various iconic locations around Sydney to create the backdrop for the film’s action-packed scenes. The Sydney Harbour Bridge, known for its stunning views of the city, was temporarily closed off to locals during filming to capture scenes for the movie.

Additionally, Disney Studios Australia, situated in Moore Park, provided facilities for certain sequences, taking advantage of its advanced sound stages and interior tank. The scenes involving the romantic storyline of the characters were also filmed in the same studio. Also, the film’s visual effects and action sequences required studio magic, with behind-the-scenes footage revealing the use of blue screens and stunt doubles. The Disney Studios were utilized for the same.

Scenes were also taped in the Northern Beaches region and The Rocks neighborhood. Locations like Dawes Point Reserve, Anzac Bridge, and Chifley Square featured prominently in the film. The famous Sydney Opera House served as a backdrop for several scenes, with filming taking place at various nearby locations including the Opera House Car Park, Sydney Harbour tunnel, and Wynyard train station entrance.

Exterior action sequences featuring lead actor Ryan Gosling were shot in Rushcutters Bay and near the Capitol Theatre. Elizabeth Street and the streets between Circular Quay and Martin Place were also used for important scenes. Martin Place particularly became a hub for the film’s city scenes, featuring Tom, Gail, and Jody’s hotel, Tom’s flat, and intense car chase scenes involving Colt Seavers. The area witnessed multiple stunts, including Gosling’s character dropping from a 12-story building in the movie’s opening scene.

Metal Storm, a fictional film within The Fall Guy, involved stunts filmed on a remote coastline in Kurnell. This picturesque beach served as the setting for a record-breaking car stunt performed by the real-life stunt crew. Apart from The Fall Guy, Sydney has also hosted the production of several other movies in the past. These include Anyone But You, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Matrix, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Hacksaw Ridge, The Great Gatsby, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Matrix Reloaded, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
