Anthracite Review

For a psychological thriller to go well, both aspects of the genre need good execution. The first is the part where the thrill is maintained consistently with good writing and dramatic events. The other is where the protagonist’s journey and conflicts deepen with every new obstacle the character faces.

This series has a protagonist facing a personal journey with the disappearance of her father and at the same time, she must do something she is good at, solving cases and unfurling a mystery. Both of them are done very well by the makers of the series. This takes you back in some ways to the first season of True Detective where faith met character development.

Anthracite Review

The direction of this series is amazing. Picturesque locations and brilliant writing add to the series. There is not a single episode in this series that does not serve the purpose of storytelling. If there is one thing that we would like to point out, it is the music in the series which does not add too much to the narrative and you do feel it would have added to the plot.

The best thing about this series is its production design. The series deals with tough terrain and many different kinds of scenes so we are sure that it would not have been an easy task. The temperatures would not have helped either. So, kudos to the people who have made this series possible. The editing of the series is very crisp and every scene is cut very well.

If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, this series should be on your watch list. It has that addictive thing about it and you do want to watch that extra episode every night before you go to sleep even if you know it will give you those nightmares.

So we recommend this one and give it a solid 8 out of 10. Watch it for great technical expertise and good performances.
