Apulia, Italy
The filming of Brigands: The Quest for Gold took place entirely in the region of Apulia in Italy. The production team set their base at various cities and towns in the region to shoot the series. Some important sequences were filmed in Lecce, the second-most populated city in Apulia and the capital of the Lecce province.
Lecce is known for its rich history, Baroque architecture, and vibrant cultural heritage. Nicknamed the Florence of the South, the city boasts stunning landmarks such as the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Piazza del Duomo. Its distinctive architectural style, characterized by intricate carvings in local limestone known as Lecce stone is famous worldwide.
A few scenes of the show were also shot in the town and commune of Melpignano in Lecce province. It is a peaceful town, recognized for its annual Notte della Taranta festival, celebrating the region’s rich musical tradition of tarantella folk music. The rest of the sequences of the show were shot in the city of Brindisi, the capital of the province of the same name in the Apulia region.
