Lizzo has had enough of her critics! The singer who has gotten embroiled in multiple controversies over the last few months just had an outburst on social media, leaving her fans and admirers concerned. The 35-year-old rapper posted a long post on Instagram, stating how she has gotten tired of receiving hate on the internet. Lizzo ended her post by writing “I Quit,” sparking speculations regarding if she is quitting the music industry.

In her post on March 29th, Lizzo revealed that she is getting tired of “being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views … being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look. My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit,” added the Good as Hell singer. However, the thing that got the most attention was how she concluded her message.

At the end of the post, Lizzo wrote, “I Quit,” followed by a victory sign emoji. This raised doubts about her future in the music industry, leaving everyone wondering if she was actually signing off from the industry. However, as of now, Lizzo has not confirmed explicitly that if she is indeed making the big leap. For now, ‘I quit’ could also possibly mean a break from social media, or the singer quitting from explaining herself to everyone all the time.

Lizzo has had a Difficult Year

The singer’s outburst comes after year-long personal struggles. In August 2023, former dancers of her production company accused her of racism, sexual harassment, and creating a hostile work environment. A former clothing stylist then officially filed a lawsuit against her in September, citing sexual and racial harassment and bullying.

While Lizzo tried to get the lawsuit dismissed, the court denied her motion. Ever since the singer has been facing a lot of hate online. Also, this is not the first time that Lizzo has threatened to leave the music industry. In May 2023, the singer warned that she would quit the industry after a wave of body-shaming comments, with some people claiming that she decided not to lose weight to maintain her brand. At the time, she also locked her Twitter account.

Fortunately, things are still looking good for her professionally. Lizzo won a Grammy Record of the Year for her song About Damn Time, taking her total Grammy Award count to four. She is also the recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award, a Billboard Music Award, and a BET Award.

If Lizzo does decide to quit the industry, it would be a huge setback for her fans.
